Learn the conversation, not every menu

You can begin with the message box: describe the task and ask for a starting version. ChatGPT can follow a conversation, so correct the first response in ordinary language instead of searching for perfect wording.

Choose something you can check in a few minutes. Write a polite reply, organise public notes, or ask for questions to prepare before a meeting. Do not start with a decision you cannot verify.

Use a simple four-part request

State the situation, the output, the reader, and the limits. Add the source material when accuracy depends on it. If a fact is missing, ask ChatGPT to leave a marker rather than guess.

  • Situation: what is happening?
  • Result: what should be written, compared, or organised?
  • Reader: who will use it?
  • Limits: what must it include, avoid, or mark for review?

Check the settings that affect your information

ChatGPT data controls include options for model improvement, chat history, exports, and other account settings. Temporary chats have separate behaviour and may still be retained for a limited safety period. The available controls depend on the account and workspace.

A privacy setting is not permission to paste confidential material. Follow workplace rules and remove names, account details, health information, and other sensitive content from practice tasks.
