Use your experience as the quality standard

After years in a role, you know which details change a decision, which promises create trouble, and how different people will read the same message. AI does not replace that context. It can prepare a starting point while you decide whether the result fits the work.

Begin with a task you could complete without AI. Good first tests include turning approved notes into an agenda, organizing questions before a meeting, or writing a routine update. Avoid decisions about hiring, discipline, safety, money, or legal obligations during the first test.

Separate the answer from the decision

Write down what the tool may do and what remains yours. It may group notes, suggest headings, or prepare alternatives. A named person still checks facts, tone, policy, and consequences before anything is shared or acted on.

  • Use only information your organization permits in the chosen tool.
  • Ask the tool to mark missing facts instead of filling gaps.
  • Keep approvals and final decisions outside the automated step.

Measure the entire task

A fast answer is not useful if correction takes longer than the old method. Time the preparation, instructions, checking, revision, and transfer into the system where the work belongs. Repeat the same task three times before deciding.

Keep the instructions and checklist only when the total process is reliably better. Your goal is a routine that survives an ordinary week, not an impressive demonstration.

  • Did the result stay within the approved source material?
  • Who is responsible for the final version?
  • Did the complete process save time after review and correction?

  • Keep writing separate from approval and decision-making.
  • Measure checking time before calling the method useful.
